Mozilla had rejected Google’s #WebP image format, but it’s taking a fresh look after some prodding from large Web sites — and after Google fixed a number of shortcomings like support for EXIF metadata, alpha channel transparency, ICC color profiles, and animation. Google released libwebp version 0.3.0 last week.
